Heat exchanger for hydrogen station

A fuel cell vehicle (FCV) generates electricity through a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, and runs by turning a motor. It is an environment-friendly and clean car that emits only water when driving.
In order for FCVs to achieve the cruising range of conventional gasoline vehicles, "hydrogen storage tank" in the limited space is filled with a sufficient amount of hydrogen. In order to complete the hydrogen filling of the FCV within 3 minutes, the supply pressure at the time of hydrogen filling must be 82MPa.
During hydrogen filling, the temperature of the FCV's hydrogen storage tank rises. In order to prevent accidents such as damage to the tank, the upper limit of the hydrogen temperature in the tank is 85℃,  so hydrogen is cooled to about -40℃ in advance and then supplied.
WELCON manufactures and sells "WEL-Cool H2A / H2C", which is a standard heat exchanger for cooling hydrogen before filling (also called "pre-cooler").

High pressure resistance, high strength, corrosion resistance, small size and light weight

Heat exchangers for hydrogen stations must meet safety standards, such as hydrogen exposure resistance for many hours and high pressure resistance (approximately 100 MPa). WELCON's unique microchannel flow path structure meets safety standards and achieves high heat exchange performance and miniaturization.
In March 2019, we received certification, "the PED: Puressure Equipment Directive".
